Anybody purchased any nextel phone from amazon.com?
I chatted online with sales rep at nextel.com and I told them I will
buy my i860 at amazon.com and they tried to scare me by saying I need
to pay a activation fee,a set up fee, shipping fee,sim card.
I said I understand there is $35 activation fee per phone max $70 but
what is a set up fee and how much? he/she said it is one time fee for
set up and fee is different depending on where you are.
he/she wouldn't tell me even though I gave my zip code and refer to
call customer service.

what is a set up fee? and how much?

phone from amazon.com has sim card on it?
site states Components:
Battery, Battery Door, Phone, Holster, Welcome Guide, User
Documentation
it doesn't say it has sim card on it. It's like buying a computer
without CPU.

Do I have to give out my personal information to amazon.com OR just
buy the phone from amazon and activate through nextel?

Thanks.

Try to get a Nextel from a local established Radio or Cellular shop ( NOT
the alloof Mall Kioske kid) ,so you can have someone to yell at later on in
thier face.Nextel direct and Amazon will just give you the run around.

Amazon does not charge a setup fee, SIM fee, etc, etc. They may
charge a shipping fee but that is clearly stated at check-out. NEXTEL
will charge you a $35 activation fee not Amazon. Other than that the
only thing you get with Amazon is the same phone for a lot less money!

My understanding is that you provide your personal details that Amazon
then sends to Nextel to run a credit check and approve you for an
account. When you get the phone you call Nextel and they turn it on.

Also look at LetsTalk.com. They have provided us with great service
as has Amazon.
