Expected to be available from April, the iTablet runs Windows 7 on a
1.6GHz Intel chip. The iTablet will have space for a 250GB hard drive, 802.11b/g Wi-fi and optional 3G mobile broadband. The device will support Flash, unlike Apple's iPad, and will have 3 USB ports and a 1.3Mp webcam. HDMI output is offered as an optional extra. For the fashion conscious, the 10.2-inch or 12.1-inch, 252x192x35mm tablet will be offered in a choice of black, white, blue, pink, yellow, red or grey. Pricing has yet to be confirmed. http://www.macworld.com/article/1461...blet_ipad.html |

: Pricing has yet to be confirmed. This one is interesting, too: http://www.buy.com/prod/viliv-x70ex-...-1-2ghz-intel- atom-processor-1gb-ram/q/loc/101/211880405.html Available with up to 128GB SSD drive....which runs the price up quite a bit, of course. It's a real computer, not a hobbled up appliance with a Box Office. -- "iPad is to computing what Etch-A-Sketch is to art!" Larry |

It's a good product if you don't mind the relatively short battery life, and the weight. It's sold to a different market than the iPad will sell to, with a lot of vertical market applications. |

It's successor interests me more, I don't think I'd go back to a resistive touchscreen at this point, and XP is a little dated for my tastes, but otherwise... I can see myself picking up the next version of something like this. Honestly I'm holding off buying anything for the next 6 months or so to give Apple's competitors time to build better and cheaper competition. |

I'm convinced, if Ipad sells like the fanboiz dream, a new generation of Networked Appliances will replace the user-based computer. It'll be just a desktop display and keyboard with a touchscreen that instantly boots Safari and connects to your account on the cloud. Ipad users will fall over themselves as they will no longer have to do all this worrying about syncing with iTunes as it will all be stored, run, and displayed on their Mac appliance in front of them, from the big Cloud server in the sky! Your personal information, linked by those wonderful professional IT people at Apple, will have all your stuff, all your media you USED to depend on the ****ty iTunes that gave you so much trouble syncing and controlling....all on the server. It will boot at a blink....ready to work for you. Jobs will make a hugely hyped announcement the media will faun all over for weeks as a "new concept", finally giving the media-computing cooperative what it has wanted all along....Complete control of all user equipment because the users will have no way of stealing their stuff, once and for all. The longer you wait, the more chance you have of joining this new Cloud Utopia......Bring your credit card. -- "iPad is to computing what Etch-A-Sketch is to art!" Larry |
